Overview
Founded in 1972, the ARDS holds an annual meeting the first week of March that attracts an outstanding group of retinal specialty leaders from around the world. The ARDS meeting is vigorous and defined by its interactive approach between the speakers and the audience. Dynamic discussion among all participants is a hallmark of the ARDS.

Objectives
  1. Consider transitioning to small gauge vitrectomy surgery.
  2. Discuss tips and tricks for treating retinal detachment in highly myopic eyes.
  3. Describe combined surgical approaches to posterior and anterior pathology.
  4. Discuss macular reconstruction.
  5. Assess various pharmacologic therapies for non-AMD retinal diseases.
  6. Explain anti-VEGF therapy of neovascular AMD with advanced visual loss.
  7. Explain associations between reticular pseudodrusen and coronary artery disease.
  8. Consider utility of ultra-widefield swept source OCT.
  9. Identify microstructural macular changes after primary retinal detachment repair.
  10. Discuss transretinal tumor biopsies and their increasing importance for vitreoretinal surgeons.
  11. Discuss the different uses of anti-VEGF agents in multiple retinal diseases, including risks and benefits.
  12. Discuss the future uses of sustained delivery devices and gene therapy for long term delivery of anti-VEGF agents for retinal diseases.
  13. Summarize use of gene therapy for treatment of macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
  14. Decrease endophthalmitis risk after intravitreal injections.
  15. Use advanced strategies for evaluating and treating radiation retinopathy.
  16. Evaluate new approaches in the management of posterior segment infections and inflammations .
  17. Discuss clinical implications and ethical responsibilities of laser and anti-VEGF treatment for ROP.
  18. Discuss the impact and implementation of the new ROP international classification.
