Objectives
  1. Explain how consuming a low carbohydrate diet can help patients with type 2 diabetes.
  2. Discuss the basics of tailoring a low carb diet for individual patients.
  3. Discuss the resources available to patients considering a low-carbohydrate diet.
  4. Recall how to document low carbohydrate diet in the EMR.

Registration

There is no fee for this module, however, registration is required.  If you don't already have a profile in the CE portal you will need to create one during the registration process.  Click on the Register tab, complete the prompts in the registration screens and click Finish.  Click on the activity link at the bottom the confirmation window to return to the module (a direct link to the module is also provided in the registration confirmation email).

Instructions for Completion

  • After registering, click on the Begin Activity tab and then click Launch Video.
  • Upon completion of the video, close that window and click on the Attestation button, complete then click on Show Results.
  • Next click on Complete Evaluation, submit and receive credit.

For any reason, if you are not automatically redirected to the evaluation after completing the attestation, click on the orange My CME button, then Evaluations & Certificates to complete the evaluation and claim credit for this module.

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by Beaumont Health and Michigan Collaborative for Type 2 Diabetes (MCT2D).  Beaumont Health is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Medicine CME: Beaumont Health designates this enduring material for a maximum of 0.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nursing CE: Beaumont Health designates this activity for a maximum of 0.75 ANCC contact hour.  Nurses should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Pharmacy CE: Beaumont Health designates this activity for 0.75 ACPE Universal Activity Number (UAN): JA4008259-9999-22-036-H01-P; JA4008259-9999-22-036-H01-T .  Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.  Credit will be uploaded to the NABP CPE Monitor within 60 days after activity completion.  Per ACPE rules, Beaumont Health does not have access nor the ability to upload credits requested after the evaluation closes.  It is the responsibility of the pharmacist and pharmacy technician to provide the correct NABP ID and DOB in order to receive credit.
