Overview
This conference is intended for Corewell Health healthcare professionals desiring to increase knowledge and competence in geriatric patient care. Conference topics include, but are not limited to, mobility and assessment of older adults in the acute care setting, community resources, fall prevention, ACE unit development, and elder abuse related to financial crimes. 

Target Audience
Specialties - Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine and Community Health, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Surgery
Professions - Nurse/APRN, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Physician, Physician Assistant, Social Worker

Objectives
  1. Recognize the warning signs of elder financial exploitation and how to report, as well as define the elements of elder financial exploitation.
  2. Identify the components and implementation of an ACE unit and the clinical and financial benefits.
  3. Identify roles within the healthcare team as they relate to promoting patient functional and cognitive independence, determine what environmental modification steps should be taken to promote cognitive and physical engagement in activities, identify benefits of early mobilization and functional involvement, and review use of the 6-Clicks tool for understanding patient mobility needs.
  4. Develop learner knowledge of resources, programs and services available to support older adults in the outpatient setting and within the community and recognize ways to become involved with community resources.
  5. Recognize common medical conditions where lifestyle medicine is a helpful approach for our older adult patients

This conference is open to Corewell Health providers and employees only.

Registration Fee - $15

Online registration will remain open through September 24, 2024.  Onsite registration will not be available so make sure to register by the deadline!

Cancellations or refund requests must be received by September 12, 2024; a $5 cancellation processing fee will be assessed to all cancelled registrations. Cancellation or refund requests after September 12, 2024 will not be honored.
