Overview

New Techniques for the Minimally Invasive Treatment of Aortic Disease is a special lecture highlighting a multidisciplinary approach to treating patients with aortic disease. Specifically, how the complex disease can be treated with less invasive approaches. The goal is to improve the diagnosis, treatment, and appropriate triage of patients with aortic disease. Perspectives will be giving from cardiology, cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, and anesthesiology.

Objectives
  1. Describe alternatives to open surgery for complex aortic disease
  2. Explain the pre-operative evaluation for patients with aortic aneurysm
  3. Discuss advances in minimally invasive thoracic aortic disease
  4. Explore the risks and benefits of the varies choices of anesthetic to optimize outcome in patients undergoing TEVAR
  5. Examine the risks and benefits of light conscious sedation with regional block vs. General Anesthesia in patients undergoing TEVAR
