Day 1 - June 6, 2021

Day 2 - June 13, 2021

Target Audience
Specialties - Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics, Surgery, Trauma Surgery

Objectives
  1. Describe how safe and effective EMS responses were created in the U.S., Canada, and Israel.
  2. Describe the standards that were developed in regard to restricting who could be transported, how they could be transferred, providing home care, and related issues, in relation to legal and ethical principles.
  3. Assess the ways in which standards related to patient transport during COVID-19 were or were not effective.
  4. Explain how EMS participated in community testing and vaccine administration, in which Israel played a pioneering role.
  5. Speculate about how what we have learned from this experience should be applied to future events, including both disasters and diseases.
  6. Describe basic considerations related to triage and management of initial mental health concerns during and immediately following a disaster.
  7. Describe how health care providers can be trained in such a way as to prevent or reduce their own mental health issues that might otherwise occur during a disaster situation.
  8. Identify strategies for reducing stress and treating mental health symptoms of caregivers during and immediately following a disaster scenario.
  9. Discuss strategies for reducing the likelihood of post-disaster PTSD, as well as basic approaches to treatment.
  10. List the implications of a highly contagious, airborne infection with high mortality.
  11. Develop multifaceted, interdisciplinary strategies to achieve best outcomes.
