26th Annual Medical Staff Symposium

The 26th Annual Symposium is your source for cutting-edge information, best practices, and national guidelines that cover a wide variety of medical topics. The Medical Staff of Corewell Health East are hosting this weekend symposium designed to promote the continuing education and well-being of Corewell Health physicians and advanced practice providers. In addition to the presentation of interesting medical topics, social activities are planned.

This activity is open to Corewell Health Providers and Staff only.

1. Discuss the current state of undergraduate medical education in the United States and at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine
2. Identify who is at risk of Opioid Use Disorder and examine the importance of implementing hospital-based programs
3. Consider how specific, and necessary, developmental tasks of adolescence informs our interaction with them as patients (and parents)
4. Explain the OEE project and describe the changes with the upcoming move to the Corewell instance of Epic
5. Identify opportunities to improve the medical school experience for students and faculty
6. Review the psychosocial development of adolescents
7. Obtain tools for helping adolescents understand these developmental tasks and how they are influencing their experience

In support of improving patient care, Beaumont Health is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Medicine CME: Beaumont Health designates this live activity for a maximum of 7.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

Advance Practice Providers and Nurses: CME credits can be used to meet the Continuing Education requirements needed for Michigan licensure without limitation. 

The lecture, Mind the Gap: Bridging Disparities in Opioid Use Disorder, is eligible for 0.50 Pain & Symptom Management credit.

Daily credit breakdown:  6/20 = No CME; 6/21 = 2.50, 6/22 = 4.5.
