Overview

This lecture will cover the fundamentals of suicide assessment, including a review of the latest research in the field. The current Beaumont Health suicide assessment policies will be reviewed along with an exploration of the system's current recommended assessment tool, the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS). Finally, emerging approaches to suicide assessment will be reviewed.

Objectives
  1. Demonstrate the fundamentals of suicide assessment

  3. Describe limitations of current suicide assessment approaches and the features of emerging models designed to address those limitations.

Medicine CME: Beaumont Health designates this enduring material for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nursing CE: Beaumont Health designates this activity for a maximum of 1.0 ANCC contact hour.  Nurses should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Psychology CE: Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP). The APA CEP Office maintains responsibly for the content of the programs.
