Overview

This introductory lecture will focus on medical conditions associated with chronic pelvic pain, and psychosocial factors that can maintain or exacerbate this condition. Evidenced-based psychosocial treatments for chronic pelvic pain, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy will also be discussed.

Objectives
  1. Describe medical conditions associated with the onset of chronic pelvic pain, and psychosocial factors that are impacted by this medical condition.
  2. Explain psychosocial factors that can maintain or exacerbate chronic pelvic pain.
  3. Identify evidenced-based psychosocial treatments for chronic pelvic pain and available referral resources.
