Overview
OUWB students are required to participate in a number of community engagement programs and service learning requirements before graduation. However, many faculty are not aware of how they can contribute and collaborate with Compass to create meaningful opportunities for community engagement and research. This session will cover the basic requirements for planning a community engagement activity and provide an opportunity for faculty to discuss and draft an idea in small groups.
Objectives
  1. Compare and contrast the differences between community engagement programs and service learning.
  2. Describe the key elements to planning a community engagement program or service-learning requirement.
  3. Summarize information from successful OUWB faculty-driven community engagement programs and service-learning requirements.
  4. Identify resources for program planning and service-learning available through Compass.
  5. Apply knowledge gained through a small-group activity on developing a community engagement program/service-learning requirement.
