Overview
The Rapid Response Team is called to respond to patient care issues in all areas of the hospital.  The members of the team must employ evidence based practice and medical knowledge to direct care using an interdisciplinary approach.
Target Audience
Specialties - Cardiovascular Medicine, Family Medicine and Community Health, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Oncology/Hematology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Surgery

Objectives
  1. Define sepsis, severe sepsis and septic shock and assessment parameters for each and to be aware of the recent data in terms of the limitations of the SIRS criteria tests for sepsis
  2. Define the initial approach, work-up, and treatment of shock.
  3. Describe interventions for respiratory emergencies such as high flow oxygen, intubation & BIPAP.
  4. Describe the initial approach, work-up and treatment of hypertension.
  5. Identify common arrhythmias and associated treatment.
  6. Describe the purpose and outcomes of rapid response teams in the acute care setting.
