This presentation will offer increased education and awareness of specialty palliative care services at Beaumont Dearborn to the care teams that support patients who are dealing with a difficult or life-limiting diagnosis.

Registration

Instructions for Beaumont Health Employees, Providers, and Staff

  1. Click on Begin Activity tab
  2. Click on Register - Once registered, click on the link in the confirmation email to return to the module.
  3. Click Begin Activity then Launch Video
  4.  Click on Authenticate - if you are already logged into a Beaumont computer using your Beaumont network login, you will be automatically logged into the video system.  If you are at home or another off-site location, you must enter your Beaumont network login (what you use to access Beaumont's email and/or Epic system). 
  5. Upon completion of the video, return to Begin Activity and click Attestation to complete a brief attestation and evaluation to receive credit.

Objectives
  1. Initiate open conversations between nursing staff, social workers, and physicians supporting the usage of palliative care services.
  2. Discuss strategies to increase patient awareness to the benefit of palliative care services.
  3. Educate patients and family on the benefits of palliative care services.
  4. Facilitate positive change in provider culture surrounding palliative care.
  5. Assess the appropriateness of palliative care versus hospice care.

Credit Information

In support of improving patient care, Beaumont Health is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Medicine CME: Beaumont Health designates this enduring material for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

Nursing CE: Beaumont Health designates this enduring material for a maximum of 1.0 ANCC contact hour.  Nurses should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Social Workers: As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Beaumont Health is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program.
