Overview
The Faculty Scholars Program (FSP) is a unique interdisciplinary professional development program that encourages faculty and teaching staff from different professional schools and disciplines to explore the field of integrative medicine and healthcare. The FSP prepares faculty to incorporate theoretical, scientific, and clinical information related to complementary
 and integrative therapies into their respective field(s). Participants of similar programs share a unanimous consensus that “the FSP provides a rich atmosphere for intellectual challenge, interdisciplinary exchange, and personal self-discovery”.

Target Audience
Professions - Advanced Practice Nurse NP CRNA CNM CNS, Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician, Physical Therapist, Physician, Physician Assistant, Psychologist, Social Worker


Objectives
  1. Explain the science, practice, safety, and efficacy of integrative approaches to health and disease.
  2. Develop appropriate questions in assessing patient's history for appropriate treatment planning.
  3. Practice mindful listening to patients from diverse populations who use integrative medicine practices.
  4. Practice responding respectfully and sensitivity to patients from diverse populations who use integrative medicine practices.
  5. Identify appropriate integrative health promotion strategies for disease prevention and health maintenance for patients.
  6. Identify the safety and efficacy of Integrative medical approaches for various diseases for patients.
  7. Develop evidence based treatment plans using integrative medicine for health promotion and disease prevention.
  8. Identify appropriate integrative medicine treatment-related referrals to appropriately trained community providers.
  9. Demonstrate respect for professionals outside of their own specialty.
  10. Collaborate effectively with professionals outside of their own specialty in treatment planning for their patients.
  11. Identify reputable resources online of evidence based information on integrative medicine.
  12. Collaborate with other Beaumont Faculty who have completed this program in the service of research, education, and clinical practice of integrative medicine in healthcare.

Credit Information

In support of improving patient care, Beaumont Health is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

 

 

Medicine CME: Beaumont Health designates this other activity (blended learning) for a maximum of 65.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

Nursing CE: Beaumont Health designates this activity for a maximum of 65.5 ANCC contact hours.  Nurses should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Social Work CE: As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Beaumont Health is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Beaumont Health maintains responsibility for this course. Social workers completing this course receive 65.5 of credits continuing education credits.
