Behavioral Health on Demand: Fundamentals of Neuropsychology: A Review of Assessment Basics and Professional Practice Standards

This introductory lecture will cover the current guidelines for professional practice of neuropsychology, common testing approaches used by neuropsychologists, common reasons for referral for neuropsychological examination, how testing results may be useful in clinical practice and treatment planning, and case examples of neuropsychology patients.

1. Summarize the background and training guidelines for competent practice of neuropsychology.
2. Describe the common reasons for referral for neuropsychological assessment.
3. Recognize common evaluation tools used as a part of neuropsychological assessment.
4. Demonstrate, through case studies, improved understanding of how to use neuropsychological testing results in diagnosis and treatment planning

Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Beaumont Health maintains responsibility for this course. Social workers completing this course receive 1.0 continuing education credit.

Instructions for Completion

1. Click on the REGISTER tab. Complete the registration and enter payment information (for non-Beaumont providers)
2. Return to the module website (a direct link is provided in the registration confirmation email)
3. Click on the Begin Activity tab and then click Launch Video
4. Beaumont Health Employees and Affiliated Providers: Click Authenticate (if you are already logged into a Beaumont computer using your Beaumont network login, you will be automatically logged into the video system.  If you are at home or another off-site location, you must enter your Beaumont network login (what you use to access Beaumont's email and/or Epic system).
5. Non-Beaumont (External) Providers: Enter your first name, last name, and email address where prompted
6. Upon completion of the video, return to Begin Activity and click Post-Test to complete a brief attestation and evaluation to receive credit.
