Overview

This module will discuss key historical events that influence contemporary relationships between race and medicine in the United States and review the different social forces that produce social disparities.

AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (1.00 hours), CME Non-Physician (Attendance) (1.00 hours), Medical Ethics Credit (1.00 hours)

This module is free for Beaumont and OUWB providers, faculty, and staff.  

For non-Beaumont/non-OUWB individuals, the cost is $25.

Instructions for Beaumont Health Employees, Providers, and Staff

  1. Click on Begin Activity tab and register for the module
  2. Return to begin activity and click Launch Video
  3. Objectives
  1. Discuss key historical events that influence contemporary relationships between race and medicine in the United States.
  2. Describe the concept of structural accumulation of disadvantage.
  3. Identify and discuss two different social forces that produce social disparities.
  4. Trace the structural accumulation of race/ethnic disadvantage from historical foundations to contemporary manifestations in health and medicine.

Credit Information
