The pain management and opioid drug crisis presents challenges to many health care professionals. This module will deliver valuable information on the role acupuncture can play in reducing pain.

This module provides 1 credit towards the State of Michigan LARA requirement for education on pain and symptom management.

AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (1.00 hours), CME Non-Physician (Attendance) (1.00 hours), Pain and Symptom Management Credit (1.00 hours), IPCE (1.00 hours), Nursing CE (ANCC) (1.00 hours), Social Work CE (ASWB) (1.00 hours)

This module is free for Beaumont providers and employees.  

For non-Beaumont individuals, the cost is $25.

3. Register for the module
4. Return to Tests and click Media
5. Click on Authenticate - if you are already logged into a Beaumont computer using your Beaumont network login, you will be automatically logged into the video system.  If you are at home or another off-site location, you must enter your Beaumont network login (what you use to access Beaumont's email and/or Epic system).
6. Upon completion of the video, return to Tests to complete a brief attestation and evaluation to receive credit.

1. Discuss the theories on how acupuncture can reduce pain.
2. Review research studies supporting the use of acupuncture for pain conditions.
3. Discuss safety considerations when treating patients with acupuncture and the importance of finding a qualified acupuncturist.
