In this course, you will receive an overview of general LGBTQIA+ history and how it has impacted healthcare. You will explore ways to provide inclusive and affirming experiences/interactions for LGBTQIA+ people.


Target Audience
Professions - Dietetic Technician, Nurse/APRN, Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician, Physician, Physician Assistant, Registered Dietitian, Social Worker

Objectives
  1. Recognize the health disparities commonly experienced in the LGBTQIA+ community
  2. Define the terminology associated with individuals who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community so that attendees can use the appropriate language
  3. Examine the timeline of LGBTQIA+ historical social inequities that lead to marginalization in healthcare
  4. Review patient scenarios with poor outcomes and discuss/identify steps that could be taken to facilitate better outcomes Recommend best practices for working with and treating members of the LGBTQIA+ community
