Overview

The Practical and Progressive Updates in Primary Care Medicine is an entirely ON DEMAND event allowing providers to create a flexible CME experience that works best with your needs and schedule.   

This unique format lets you view pre-recorded lectures at your convenience during the designated conference time.  Simply log in and participate from your home, office, or anywhere you are from April 1 through May 31.

This educational activity will offer the primary care clinician practical approaches to the management of contemporary issues encountered in today's clinical populations. The conference has been designed to offer options for the participants to obtain information most relevant to their individual practices. Throughout the allotted time frame, and at their convenience, participants will have the opportunity to become updated on current evidence-based guidelines and focus on practice- based learning and improvement.

Objectives
  1. Utilize up-to-date guidelines for immunization of patients.
  2. Recognize, evaluate, and treat (using evidence-based guidelines) acute and chronic conditions such as hypogonadism, obstructive lung disease, heart failure, diabetes, menopause, common orthopedic conditions, common growth abnormalities, and pediatric urology conditions.
  3. Recognize and understand the tremendous impact of opioid use disorder.
  4. Review how to navigate artificial intelligence in medicine.

AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (0.25 hours), AMA PRA Non-Physician (Attendance) (0.25 hours), AOA Category 1-A (0.25 hours)

Credit Information

In support of improving patient care, Beaumont Health is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

 

CE Credit Available: This conference is approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ and AOA Category 1-A credit. 

Allopathic CME: Beaumont Health designates this enduring material for a maximum of 11.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Advance Practice Providers and Nurses Continuing Education: CME credits can be used to meet the Continuing Education requirements needed for Michigan licensure without limitation.  This activity is approved for 3.0 APRN pharmacotherapeutic hours.

Osteopathic CME: Beaumont Health is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians.
Beaumont Health designates this program for a maximum of 11.75 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in the activity.

American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP): The AAFP has reviewed Practical and Progressive Updates in Primary Care Medicine 2024 and deemed it acceptable for up to 11.75 Enduring Materials, Self-Study AAFP Prescribed credit(s). Term of Approval is from 04/01/2024 to 05/31/2024. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Meaningful Participation Credit:  Each lecture is eligible for 1.0 Meaningful Participation credit for Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine Faculty.

Ethics Credit: The lecture "Artificial Intelligence and Medicine" will provide 1.0 credit towards the ethics requirement for Michigan LARA.

Pain/Opioid Credit: The lecture "Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder with MAT for the Primary Care Provider" will provide 1.0 credit towards the pain and symptom management requirement for Michigan LARA and will provide 1.0 credit towards the DEA MATE Act controlled substances requirement.
