LGBT Older Adults - A Step Forward in Understanding

This module will review review the culture, needs, and concerns of LGBT older adults and discuss strategies to help LGBT older adults feel more included and safe.

This module provides 1 hour of training on implicit bias as required by the State of Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Affairs department.

1. Review the culture, needs, and concerns of LGBT older adults.
2. Discuss why LGBT older adults are least likely to access health and social services.
3. Identify best practices for helping LGBT older adults feel more included and safe.
4. Identify tools and education to better serve LGBT older adults.

Medicine CME: Beaumont Health designates this enduring activity for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nursing CE: Beaumont Health designates this activity for a maximum of 1.0 ANCC contact hour.  Nurses should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Pharmacy CE: Beaumont Health designates this activity for 1.0 ACPE contact hour. ACPE Universal Activity Number (UAN): JA4008259-0000-23-119-H99-P / JA4008259-0000-23-119-H99-T.  Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.  Credit will be uploaded to the NABP CPE Monitor within 30 days after the activity completion. 

Social Work CE:  As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Beaumont Health is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Beaumont Health maintains responsibility for this course. Social workers completing this course receive 1.0 continuing education credit.

Implicit Bias: This module meets the Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Affairs department requirements for training on implicit bias and provides 1 hour of implicit bias training.
