Why Neonatal Nasal Continuous Positive Airway Pressure?

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Healthcare Providers need to understand why nasal continuous positive airway pressure therapy is so important in the neonatal population and how to prevent possible complications from this therapy.

1. Identify the major neonatal diseases for which nasal continuous positive airway pressure therapy is used
2. List reasons why prolonged nasal continuous positive airway pressure therapy is beneficial in the preterm population
3. Discuss the key areas of assessment for a neonate on nasal continuous positive airway pressure to help ensure the therapy is functioning appropriately and to prevent complications

This module is for Corewell Health East nurses only.

Instructions for Completion
1.  Register.  There is no cost to participate, but you must register to access the module.  You must be logged in as an employee through the "Sign in with your Beaumont Health ID" option to register.  After registering, click on the module link at the bottom of the receipt window to return to the module Overview screen or go to "Registrations & Receipts" and click the activity title. 

2. Click on Begin Activity

3. Click Pre-test and answer all questions.

4. Click Launch Video and click AUTHENTICATE where prompted.  If you are not already logged into a Corewell Health device, you will be prompted to authenticate in PING to access.

5. View the 1-hour video in its entirety.  When finished, close the video widow and click on Post-Test.  Once all questions have been answered, click on FINISH TEST.

6. Click on Complete Evaluation, submit and receive credit.

If you are not automatically redirected to the evaluation after completing the attestation, click on the yellow My CME button, then Evaluations & Certificates to complete the evaluation and claim credit for this module.  If the evaluation is not visible to complete, email [email protected] for assistance.

Nursing CE: Beaumont Health designates this activity for a maximum of 1.0 ANCC contact hour.  Nurses should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
