Unconscious Bias and Health Disparities

This 2-hour online module provides an overview and introduction to unconscious bias and health disparities.  This module meets the Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Affairs requirement for training on implicit bias.

1. Define implicit bias and health disparities.
2. Review what social determinants are and how they impact our health.
3. Recognize the underlying cause of health inequalities, and be able to identify, describe, and be knowledgeable regarding possible solutions to address/reduce health inequalities in different populations.

In support of improving patient care, Beaumont Health is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

 

Medicine CME: Beaumont Health designates this enduring activity for a maximum of 2.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nursing CE: Beaumont Health designates this activity for a maximum of 2.0 ANCC contact hours.  Nurses should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Pharmacy CE: Beaumont Health designates this activity for 2.0 ACPE contact hours. ACPE Universal Activity Number (UAN): JA4008259-0000-23-091-H99-P / JA4008259-0000-23-091-H99-T.  Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.  Credit will be uploaded to the NABP CPE Monitor within 30 days after the activity completion. 

Psychology CE: Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP). The APA CEP Office maintains responsibly for the content of the programs.

Social Work CE:  As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Beaumont Health is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Beaumont Health maintains responsibility for this course. Social workers completing this course receive 2.0 continuing education credits.

Implicit Bias: This module meets the Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Affairs department requirements for training on implicit bias and provides 2 hours of implicit bias training.
