Overview
This live training activity will assist Beaumont staff in assessment and prevention of violence using the SMART Principles, communicating professionally under stress, de-escalation of a confrontation, reducing violence by increasing cooperation, utilizing self-protection skills, reducing the number and severity of restraints, and utilizing brief emergency restraint.

Professions - Athletic Trainer, Nurse/APRN, Occupational Therapist, Other, Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician, Physical Therapist, Physician, Physician Assistant, Psychologist, Social Worker

Objectives
  1. Demonstrate assessment and prevention of violence skills.
  2. Demonstrate the ability to communicate professionally with clear definition of behaviors.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to de-escalate a confrontation including choosing the right skill for the right time.
  4. Demonstrate utilization of self-protection skills.
